Overview

Custom decals let you put your own images on your Ghost Driver car — logos, designs, or memes — before anyone else in the lobby. The process runs through the Roblox Creator Hub, where you upload an image as a decal and grab its asset ID to use in game. This tutorial walks through the whole flow.

Custom Decals Tutorial

This video demonstrates the entire custom decal setup, from uploading in the Creator Hub to applying the decal in-game. Follow along and you'll have a custom design in minutes.

Uploading Your Decal

The upload happens outside the game. Follow these steps exactly.

1

Open the Creator Hub

Click Create at the top of the Roblox website to open the Creator Hub.

2

Go to Development Items

Navigate to Creations and select Development Items.

3

Open the Decals Tab

Click the Decals tab and choose Upload Asset to add your custom image.

4

Copy the Asset ID

After uploading, switch to the Images tab, find your asset, and copy its asset ID for use in-game.

Roblox has image guidelines — keep your uploads appropriate or they can be moderated.

Applying the Decal In-Game

Once you have your asset ID, launch Ghost Driver and open the customization menu for your car. Find the decal option and paste your asset ID to place the image on the vehicle.

The game applies the decal like any other cosmetic, so you can mix it with paints, rims, and body parts. Because you created the image yourself, your build is genuinely one of one — nobody else has that exact design.

Decal Ideas

Need inspiration? These are the most popular custom decal styles in the community.

Racing Stripes

Classic motorsport look. Pair with the cutting up style.

Graphic Art

Skulls, flames, and abstract art for loud builds.

Logos & Text

Your tag or brand on the door. Check all customizations.

Custom decals are the fastest way to stand out — but they never affect performance, so tune first.

Before You Upload

A quick pre-flight checklist for smooth decal creation.

  • Design your image at the right aspect ratio.
  • Export as PNG or JPG under the size limit.
  • Make sure the image is original or allowed.
  • Copy the asset ID after upload — you'll need it in-game.

Designing Better Decals

A good decal reads instantly. High-contrast designs work best on moving cars, since small details blur at highway speed. Bold shapes, clear outlines, and two or three colors survive the blur test; fine text and gradients disappear.

Consider placement before design. Door panels want tall designs, hoods want wide ones, and roofs are a blank canvas. Designing for the panel shape means less stretching and a cleaner final look.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add custom decals in Ghost Driver?

Upload your image as a decal in the Roblox Creator Hub, copy the asset ID from the Images tab, then apply it in the in-game customization menu.

Where is the Creator Hub?

Click Create at the top of the Roblox website. From there go to Creations, then Development Items, then the Decals tab.

Do custom decals cost Robux?

Uploading and applying decals is free. You only need the image and its asset ID.

What image formats work?

PNG and JPG work best. Keep the file within Roblox upload limits and design at the panel's aspect ratio to avoid stretching.

Why is my decal stretched?

The image aspect ratio doesn't match the car panel. Design your decal to the panel shape or accept some cropping.

Can other players see my custom decal?

Yes. Decals render for everyone in the server, so your one-of-one build shows up on the highway.

Do decals affect performance?

No. Decals are purely cosmetic. Pair them with a good tune for the full package — see the tuning guide.
